P01 · Practicar la habilidad

Your class magazine wants an account of a day when you learned something new. You may invent personal details; keep any facts supplied in this task.

Write 80–100 words. Explain what you learned, who helped you, one difficulty, and how you felt afterwards.

Respuesta y explicación
Last summer, my uncle taught me to cook a vegetable curry. We bought the ingredients together in the morning, and he showed me how to cut them safely. The hardest part was choosing the right amount of spice. At first, the sauce was too hot, so we added more tomatoes and some yoghurt. We served the curry to my family that evening, and everyone asked for more. I felt proud because I had made most of the meal myself. Now I cook it at home about once a month.

“Last summer” → “At first,”. Lengua: “I felt proud because I had made most of the meal myself.”

A friend asks about an enjoyable day out that did not go exactly as planned. You may invent personal details; keep any facts supplied in this task.

Write 80–100 words. Describe the original plan, what changed, what you did instead, and why the day was still enjoyable.

Respuesta y explicación
We planned to spend Saturday at the beach, but heavy rain began while we were having breakfast. Instead of staying at home, we took a bus to the science museum. My brother was disappointed at first, but he loved the room where visitors could build simple machines. We spent an hour trying to move a ball through different tubes. Later, we had lunch in the museum cafe and talked about our favourite activities. The weather changed our plans, but we discovered a place we now want to visit again.

“We planned to spend Saturday” → “Instead of staying at home”. Lengua: “The weather changed our plans, but we discovered a place we now want to visit again.”

Your English teacher asks about a special celebration. You may invent personal details; keep any facts supplied in this task.

Write 80–100 words. Say what people celebrated, describe your part in preparing it, mention a surprise, and explain why you remember it.

Respuesta y explicación
In May, we celebrated my grandmother’s seventieth birthday. My cousins made a photo display, and I helped my father cook lunch for everyone. We told my grandmother that only six people were coming, but her old school friend arrived as a surprise. They had not seen each other for several years. After lunch, they looked through the photos and told us funny stories about their school days. I remember the celebration because I learned things about my grandmother’s life that I had never heard before. She smiled all afternoon.

“In May,” → “After lunch,”. P04 · Practicar la habilidad

A school website asks students to describe a time they helped someone. You may invent personal details; keep any facts supplied in this task.

Write 80–100 words. Explain who needed help, what the problem was, what you did, and the result.

Respuesta y explicación
One afternoon, I saw a new student standing outside our school office. She was looking for the music room, but the map on her phone showed the wrong building. I had a free period, so I offered to take her there. On the way, I showed her the library and explained where students could eat lunch. We arrived before her lesson started, and she thanked me. The next day, she sat beside me in the dining hall. Helping her find a room also helped me make a new friend.
