Questions & answers

Opening an answer records help for that question.

P01 · Build the skill

Plan your note to Sam.

Write 20–35 words of planning notes. Include Sam, Friday to Monday, your plant, watering on Saturday, and a key location.

Answer & explanation
Sam; away Friday to Monday; one plant by the kitchen window; water it on Saturday; key in an envelope by your door. Thank Sam for helping.

This is one possible response, not the only correct answer. Include the neighbour’s name, when you are away, the plant, the watering day and where the key is. Short notes are acceptable here.

P02 · Build the skill

Now write the note to Sam. You are away from Friday to Monday.

Write 45–65 words. Ask Sam to water your plant on Saturday. Say where the plant and key are. Include a greeting, thanks and your name.

Answer & explanation
Hi Sam, I am away from Friday to Monday. Could you water my plant on Saturday, please? It is by the kitchen window. The key is in an envelope by your door. Thank you for your help. Please call me if you cannot find it. See you on Monday! Alex

This is one possible response, not the only correct answer. Make a polite request, include all five practical details, and finish with thanks and your name. The model uses “Could you” and “please”.

P03 · Build the skill

Your plans change: you will return on Tuesday, not Monday.

Write 35–55 words to Sam. Explain the new return day, ask Sam to water the plant once more on Sunday, and thank Sam.

Answer & explanation
Hi Sam, my plans are different now. I am coming home on Tuesday, not Monday. Could you water the plant once more on Sunday, please? Thank you for looking after it. I am sorry about the extra work. Alex

This is one possible response, not the only correct answer. State the changed return day, ask for one extra watering on Sunday, and thank the neighbour. Do not repeat the old Monday return as the current plan.
